Residential Care

Our residential facility is more than a place to live—it’s a place to belong. As a specialized care facility, we provide a safe, supportive home for adults with epilepsy and other associated neurological disabilities. Our dedicated team manages residents’ medication and healthcare needs, including clinic and hospital visits when required, ensuring that each person receives consistent and compassionate care. Beyond meeting daily needs, our Residential Social Worker focuses on personal growth and dignity through individualized care plans, life skills training, and meaningful activities. With warmth and respect at the heart of all we do, our facility offers a true sense of family—where the flame of potential is ignited, independence is nurtured, and lives are transformed.

Day Care Program

Our Day Care Programme is a vibrant, structured space designed to stimulate and enhance the lives of adults with epilepsy and other neurological disabilities. Each day offers opportunities for learning, movement, creativity, and connection. From exercise and dance for fitness and mobility, to craft activities that inspire creativity, our programme encourages both personal growth and a sense of fun! Monthly themes spark debate and discussion, helping attendees to learn, build confidence, and express themselves in a safe and supportive environment. Adult numeracy and literacy are also offered.

Our Social Development Team provides guidance and support to individuals and their families as needed, ensuring that everyone feels seen, understood, and valued. At Day Care, every person is part of a community that celebrates inclusion, acceptance, and belonging — a place where each day brings purpose, joy, and possibility. Volunteers are encouraged to get involved in this area.

Social Service

At Epilepsy South Africa South Cape/Karoo Branch, we believe that understanding and inclusion begin with awareness. Our social and community services reach into schools, clinics, libraries, and workplaces—anywhere we can share knowledge about epilepsy. Through education and advocacy, we help break down stigma and promote the rights of people living with epilepsy.

We offer support groups, as well as skills development projects (such as our sewing group) for individuals with epilepsy and for those around them that are affected/impacted by their diagnosis. These groups create a safe space for people to share experiences and find encouragement. Our dedicated social development team provide guidance, emotional support, and practical interventions, and when needed, referring clients to the relevant social services. Our Community Social Worker also carries out therapeutic interventions when necessary. Every conversation, every visit, and every act of care is part of our mission to build communities that understand, include, and uplift those affected by epilepsy.
